MILOŠ BUTYKA
PRESIDENT OF THE SLOVAK RTW CLUB

Miloš Butyka has been the President of the Slovak RTW Club for eleven years. He is 62 years old, lives in Ivanka pri Dunaji and he founded a kennel named Fadyla. He worked as a dog handler for the Armed Protection Corps of the Airports and now he owns a chain of stores with cynological supplies Sponzia and a dog training centre UK-2.

Mr. President, this is the first time when the IFR World Championship is held in Slovakia. What does such a prestigious event mean for you and the RTW Club of Slovakia?

Personally I am very honoured and so is our entire Club. To get the opportunity to organize such an amazing event is great, because our Club does not belong amongst the largest. We want to prove the world that we can do our job really well, just as we have already done regarding organizing dog shows. Our members have won a number of medal awards in the IGP sport in recent years, so we would like to demonstrate that apart from winning such events, we are also able to organize them. And it is a way how to promote and show the best of the magnificent ROTTWEILER breed.

What are your hopes for this event?

I hope it will go smoothly and many teams will do their best to reach the podium and at the same time both handlers and dogs will enjoy the event very much. Of course, I also hope all fans of the breed will be satisfied with our organization as well as performances of competitors.

Can you please tell us something more about the RTW Club of Slovakia and the current situation of the breed in your country?

Our Club is small, but we have a number of great breeders, dog handlers and trainers. They have much success in breeding, show rings and sports competitions. We are organizing various types of events for the benefit of this impressive breed.

Why do people buy a Rottie in Slovakia (based on puppies registered in the studbook), what do you think? Is it for breeding, dog sport or just as a companion?

I think that in our Club we mostly have a high quality breeding. I am excited that sport cynology is gaining more and more fans and more people get involved. Some people get a Rottweiler just as a companion.

How many Rottweilers do you have now? When did you start with this breed and what was the reason for getting it?

I currently have six Rottweilers. There were times when I had many more. I started training and breeding in 1980 when I founded the FADYLA kennel. I worked as a dog handler for the Armed Protection Corps of the Airports. Why a Rottweiler? I love their fearlessness, devotion, loyalty, character and impressive look. I still have plenty to learn from them.

What would you like to wish for the WCH IFR 2024?

That the event will be held in a friendly spirit and atmosphere, and the best will win.

Christmas is coming – what are your plans for holiday? Do you have any New Year's resolutions?

I am going to spend it as usually: with my family, grandkids and the Rottweilers. I don't make New Year's resolutions. I try to live every day to the fullest.

Thank you for the interview, Draha Mašková
